Make the Time – You’re Worth It!

If I had a quarter for every time I heard someone say “I don’t have time” to workout, I’d be enjoying retirement on a beach somewhere drinking a margarita. (Or anywhere drinking a margarita...) No one has any more or less hours in the day to squeeze in a workout than anyone else.  The problem comes down to prioritizing your time to make it happen. Here are a few tips on how to find time in your crazy schedule.

  • Plan ahead

    Put it in your mind the night before that you’re going to get a workout in the next day.  Lay out your gym clothes or pack your gym bag before bed so all you have to do is grab it and go.

  • Limit screen time

    Go ahead and take a peek at your insights on all your social media accounts.  You can find out pretty quick how many minutes you spend a day as an active participant.  Next time you find yourself scrolling through your feed, think about a better way you can utilize those precious minutes.

  • Lunch Breaks/Nap Time

    Whether you’re a working professional or a stay at home mama, try to make the most out of your downtime.  Head over to the gym for a quick workout during your lunch break or head to the basement while the kiddos are down for a nap. No nap? A little screen time isn't going to turn them into zombies! (I call it strategic parenting...)

  • Set your alarm

    I have taught myself to become an early riser (just don’t talk to me).  Get up before the kids and get your workout in before the day goes to hell.  We all know saying “I’ll do it later” is a big FAT LIE!! I don’t know about you, but after my kid goes to bed I’m more interested in that bottle of wine than my dumbbells. 😉

  • Gym membership perks

    A lot of gyms have free childcare for members and even after school activities.  Scope out your local facilities for the events and hours and make it a family affair!  The kids will be entertained and you can get a quick sweat sesh’ in - It’s a win, win!

Let’s face it, your schedule is forever going to be full of work meetings, practices, dinner parties, fundraisers, and all of the above.  There’s never a good time to fit working out into your day, but using that as an excuse isn’t going to get you where you want to be. If you look hard enough, the time is there.  30 Minutes a day is all you need - find it and make it happen!
